After months of delays, Israel Public Broadcasting Corporation finally reveals the prices for the song contest, which range from NIS 350 and NIS 1,250 for one of the six dress rehearsals and from NIS 1,500 to NIS 2,000 for the grand final on May 18.

KAN, together with the EBU and ticketing partner LEEAN, should have tickets on sale before the end of February. However, there is no official date confirmed just yet.

There will be around 7300 seats in total for every show. 3000 of them have already been claimed for the purpose of the EBU. So with that in mind, only 4300 seats will be made available for the public to snap up.

KAN states that the venue can actually cater to 10,000 people. But because of the security features and equipment put in place, as well as the size of the stage, it leaves the fans with just 7300 seats.

The prices

The ticket prices, as revealed by KAN, are in ILS (Israeli new shekels). Provided below is the conversion from ILS to Euros and in Australian dollars, which are a rough estimate as to what it will cost in the latter.

A high production means high ticket prices, that’s what KAN say anyway. The broadcaster further stated that they did not receive any financial support from the Israeli government. In addition, as Expo Tel Aviv is a relatively small venue, KAN needed to cover the costs of hosting Eurovision by increasing the prices of the tickets.

Many fans were outraged by the prices and took to Twitter as a result. Due to this, a significant number of people have said that they can’t afford to go to Tel Aviv this year.

At this stage, Family Show tickets will be the same prices as Jury Show tickets.

Due to the reaction of fans, one would hope that EBU and KAN review the pricing for the tickets.  No date has been set for when sales will commence.  For those in the OGAE Fan Clubs, there has been no information given on fan package pricing.

Stay tuned.
